A Fresh, New Look for Spring

Many people buy new clothes or get a haircut for spring—the change in the weather brings on a desire to get fresh new things across the board. You've probably already hired maid service or done some spring cleaning, but have you thought about changing some of your decorating for spring?

A new look in your house might be exactly what you're looking for when it comes to something fresh! The great thing about decorating with a season in mind is that you can often choose things that are seasonable and interchangeable or that go well with what you already have!

Colors of Spring 2013

Green is an extremely popular color choice this year, but you can get a lot of mileage out of any color that reminds of of spring: try fresh, lighter-hued blues and buttery or pale sunshine yellow. You also can't go wrong with a shade of lavender.

There's also been an interest in bringing back pastels in a more modern way, so try pairing pastels and bright colors for a room that's energetic. Bright, bold prints and patterns will also suit the season well.

If you're not looking to overhaul the entire room and just want to add touches here and there, choose colors that are going to work well with and bring life to the colors you already have. Blue already a theme in your room? Add some bright yellow pops of color. Green rocking your dining room? Accent it with some pastel blue or salmon or a pop of neon green.

Ways to Use Your Colors

If you don't know where to begin with adding color to your house, try these ideas:

  • Colored artwork.

  • Painted frames.

  • Throw pillows.

  • Area rugs.

  • Couch/seat covers.

  • New or painted furniture.

  • Painted/wallpaper accent wall.

  • Painted interior doors.

Just a few little touches of a new color here or there throughout your home can make it feel brand new and ready for spring—don't forget to add some fresh flowers!
